Jeong Eun-bo Appointed as Financial Supervisory Service Chief and U.S. Defense Cost-Sharing Negotiator (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] Jeong Eun-bo, South Korea's ambassador for the South Korea-US defense cost-sharing negotiations, has been nominated as the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) chief, a position that had been vacant for three months.
Eun Sung-soo, chairman of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), announced on the 4th that he had proposed Ambassador Jeong as the new head of the FSS after the FSC's resolution.
The nominee, Jeong, is a financial and economic policy expert who has served as the FSC Secretary-General, Deputy Minister of Strategy and Finance, and Vice Chairman of the FSC.

Chairman Eun explained that based on his outstanding expertise in financial policy and international finance, as well as his broad understanding and experience in macroeconomics, Jeong is evaluated as the right person to lead the FSS stably in response to the rapidly changing domestic and international financial environment after the COVID-19 pandemic, driving new progress and enhancing trust, and thus was proposed as the new chief.
