According to Shinsegae Department Store on the 5th, the "Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science (confirmed name of Shinsegae Department Store Daejeon Branch)" will officially open on the 27th of this month.
The Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science, the thirteenth store of Shinsegae Department Store, is housed in a building with 5 basement floors and 43 above-ground floors, featuring a department store, science content experiences, cultural life, and leisure facilities.
Additionally, based on accumulated distribution data, it has organized an MD optimized for the local commercial district, filling it with Shinsegae's differentiated content such as fashion accessories, F&B, food hall, academy, and gallery.
In particular, the art observatory at a height of 193 meters offering a panoramic view of Daejeon, the Shinsegae Nexperium science museum created in collaboration with KAIST, the first Sports Monster in the Chungcheong area, and the aquarium where visitors can meet living sea creatures are expected to enhance visitor satisfaction.
Prior to the opening, Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science is also recruiting new members to participate in the Shinsegae Academy for the fall semester.
The academy consists of about 900 courses reflecting the characteristics of the Daejeon area, including science content, Korean history education, poetry creation and essay writing, and sports stacking (cup stacking).
Among these, the science content features direct participation from KAIST faculty, offering lectures on topics such as "The Power of Science Changing Everyday Life" aimed at customers interested in startups using advanced technology or future science industry investments, as well as sessions to learn about wearable robots and the latest trends in domestic and international robotics industries.
Cultural classes are also diverse. In collaboration with the Korea Studies Institute at Korea University located in Sejong, a course titled "Rival Daejeon - History and Culture Through Rivalries" is offered, which narrates historical and cultural rivalries in a storytelling format to easily provide humanities knowledge about Korean history, thereby increasing student engagement.
Additionally, the academy adds variety with new courses such as sports stacking (cup stacking) to improve children's concentration and agility, "Theory and Practice of Poetry Creation" by Professor Seong Eun-ju of Hannam University, essay writing classes by essayist Park Young-jin, and pottery courses.
Academy courses can be applied for through the website and the Shinsegae Department Store mobile app.
