View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Homeplus announced on the 5th that it has established an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Committee. This committee serves as the highest decision-making body for ESG management at Homeplus, responsible for establishing mid- to long-term ESG strategic tasks across all Homeplus business areas, reviewing the progress of goal implementation, and supporting ESG activities in each division. The chairman of the committee is Homeplus CEO Lee Jehun.
The ESG Committee operates by discussing company-wide ESG strategies in regular monthly meetings, focusing on strategies such as environmental management and social value management based on the core businesses operated by Homeplus.
In particular, the plan is to expand ESG management activities beyond existing social contribution efforts to all areas linked to the characteristics of the distribution industry. The direction for a sustainable future, "Plus for the earth, Connected to the future," has been finalized, and the core areas selected as key projects for the next five years include ▲Green Packaging ▲Good Consumption ▲Education & Campaigns ▲Carbon Neutrality, Sharing, and Coexistence.
As part of the Green Packaging project, Homeplus launched its private brand (PB) "Homeplus Signature" label-free bottled water in April. Good Consumption is a customer campaign that allows participation simply by purchasing products; Homeplus is spreading a culture of good consumption by developing donation-exclusive products and donating a portion of the sales revenue.
