LG Uplus Signs Agreement with Ministry of National Defense to Support Online Learning Content and Devices for Military Children
Providing Customized Education and Mentoring with 'U+Chodeungnara'... 500 Students This Year → 1,000 Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus is partnering with the Ministry of National Defense to provide high-quality customized education to elementary school children with career soldiers as parents.
LG Uplus and the Ministry of National Defense announced on the 5th that they signed a "Business Agreement to Support Education for Elementary School Children of Soldiers." The signing ceremony held at the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, was attended only by essential personnel, including Minister of National Defense Suwook Seo and LG Uplus President Hyunsik Hwang, in accordance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
Starting this year, LG Uplus and the Ministry of National Defense will support educational content called "U+ Elementary Country" and dedicated smart pads for children in the lower grades of elementary school. They will cover the costs of content and communication fees for two years.
Children of soldiers can freely use educational content such as ▲ "Smart Perfect Score King," which allows review and preview of the regular elementary school curriculum using U+ Elementary Country and smart pads ▲ "Todo Math," the number one math education app in the children's and education categories on app stores in 20 countries ▲ English reading program "Reading Gate" ▲ elementary English newspaper "Kids Times" ▲ Moon Jeong-ah Chinese ▲ science experiments and coding learning.
Support will also be provided to help students establish self-directed learning habits. LG Uplus and the Ministry of National Defense plan to operate a "10-week Challenge Program" to help elementary school children develop self-directed learning habits and mentoring for learning guidance.
The Ministry of National Defense plans to select 500 children of soldiers residing in towns and villages regardless of branch, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, as beneficiaries of this support project. Considering the results of the online education support project, the number of beneficiaries will be expanded to 1,000 next year.
Minister of National Defense Suwook Seo said, "I express my gratitude to LG Uplus for leading various educational support efforts to encourage the dreams of children of soldiers and promote academic development," and added, "The Ministry of National Defense will continue to implement various support policies so that military families can feel happiness."
