Gyeongbu Line Jeonui Station Overhead Line Obstruction 'Restored'... Normal Operation from First Train
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The restoration of the overhead line failure at Jeonui Station on the Gyeongbu Line has been completed.
On the 5th, Korea Railroad announced that the restoration work was completed around 5:10 a.m. and normal operations resumed starting with the first train.
According to Korea Railroad, the overhead line failure at Jeonui Station on the Gyeongbu Line occurred around 3 a.m. the previous day during overnight track maintenance work on the up line section between Jeonui and Jeondong Stations on the Gyeongbu Line.
The track maintenance equipment came into contact with the overhead line pole, causing a power supply failure.
In response, Korea Railroad suspended train operations on the up line between Jeonui and Jochiwon Stations and operated trains in both directions on a single down line track.
Due to this incident, a total of 46 train services were suspended (32 ITX-Saemaeul and 14 Mugunghwa trains), and 51 regular train services were delayed, with delays ranging from 10 to 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, KTX trains continued to operate normally without suspension during the restoration work.
A Korea Railroad official stated, “Immediately after the accident, Korea Railroad established an accident response headquarters and mobilized about 90 employees and restoration equipment to complete the overhead line restoration through overnight work. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused to passengers and will do our best to ensure safe train operations in the future.”
