Gangjin-gun, Water and Sewage Fee Reduction for Residents Affected by Special Disaster Area
Full Waiver of August Charges (1 Month) for Over 900 Households
[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin County, Jeonnam announced on the 4th that it will fully waive the water and sewage charges for the August billing period (usage in July) to help stabilize the lives of residents affected by flood damage following the designation of a special disaster area due to heavy rain in early last month.
Based on the 'Disaster and Safety Management Basic Act' and the 'Gangjin County Water Supply Ordinance,' it is expected that about 14 million KRW in relief benefits will be provided to approximately 900 households that actually suffered damage during the heavy rain from the 5th to the 8th of last month.
The waiver period is one month for the August billing period (usage in July), and the county will send waiver notices collectively to the affected households without any separate application process.
Households that have not reported disaster damage can receive relief benefits after submitting a water charge waiver application and damage verification documents to the Water and Sewage Office, subject to fact verification.
County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, "With Gangjin County being declared a special disaster area, we are able to assist affected households by waiving water and sewage charges," adding, "We will do our best to expand practical support for the speedy recovery of those affected."
