Over 10 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases at Samsung Electronics Suwon Campus... Building Closed
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] It has been confirmed that more than 10 employees at a building within Samsung Electronics' Suwon campus tested positive for COVID-19.
According to industry sources on the 3rd, 12 COVID-19 cases were reported at the R5 building of the Suwon campus, where Samsung Electronics' Mobile Research Lab is located. A COVID-19 case was first identified in the R5 building the previous day, and after employees working on the same floor or whose movement paths overlapped with the confirmed case were tested, additional positive cases were found.
Most of the confirmed cases are reported to belong to the Wireless Division. Since some employees have yet to receive their test results, it remains to be seen whether more cases will be confirmed.
Samsung Electronics has closed Tower A of the R5 building until today and plans to close the affected floor for two weeks. Employees working on that floor will switch to remote work for two weeks.
