China Conducts Simulated Fighter Jet Combat Training Amid Typhoon... "Emergency Response Capability Check"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-woo] The Chinese People's Liberation Army recently conducted simulated combat training under severe weather conditions caused by a typhoon. The training is interpreted as a drill to check response capabilities in emergency situations and to consider surprise operations.
According to the Chinese state-run Global Times on the 3rd, an aviation brigade belonging to the Eastern Theater Command Navy of China recently conducted simulated combat training using fighter jets such as the J-10 and Su-30 under severe weather conditions including a typhoon. Last week, the eastern region of China experienced heavy rain and storms due to the impact of Typhoon No. 6, 'In-fa'.
The fighter jets, which took off from a base in Zhejiang Province, were divided into teams to form tactical formations and trained to suppress the opposing side, the Global Times reported. The Chinese military is said to have checked pilots' flight and combat skills and emergency response capabilities during this training, as well as inspected fighter jet maintenance and logistics support tasks on the ground.
According to the Global Times, the Chinese military also conducted flight training in severe sandstorms in the desert using J-11 fighter jets in March. This training under diverse and complex weather conditions is interpreted as an effort to develop capabilities to prevent enemy surprise attacks and, if necessary, to carry out surprise attacks.
