Representative Lee Jun-seok Embarks on Gyeongnam Tour Without Governor, "Don't Worry About Gyeongnam Province's Next Year's Budget Cooperation"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporters Kim Yong-woo and Lee Sang-hyun] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, expressed his intention to cooperate in securing next year’s budget for Gyeongnam Province, which is currently experiencing a gubernatorial vacancy.
On the 3rd, Lee, who visited Gyeongnam Province, met with Ha Byung-pil, acting governor of Gyeongnam, to share current provincial issues and agreed to cooperate in securing national funds for the next year.
On the same day, Gyeongnam Province held an “Emergency Meeting to Support Gyeongnam Provincial Administration” at the Changwon Convention Center, where People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok and acting governor Ha Byung-pil discussed provincial issues.
The emergency meeting was attended by central party leadership including Lee Jun-seok, Seo Beom-su, Chief Secretary to the Party Leader, Kim Cheol-geun, Political Affairs Secretary to the Party Leader, Yang Jun-woo, spokesperson, as well as provincial party chairpersons such as Representative Lee Dal-gon (Changwon Jinhae District), Representative Kang Ki-yoon (Changwon Seongsan District), Representative Choi Hyung-doo (Changwon Masanhappo District), and Hwang Bo-gil, floor leader of the People Power Party in the Gyeongnam Provincial Council.
In his opening remarks, Lee said, “The People Power Party will be a strong support for the people of Gyeongnam to ensure there is no gap in provincial administration,” and promised, “Along with administrative support including transportation infrastructure, once the presidential candidate is decided, we will discuss pledges that are essential for the region.”
Acting Governor Ha said, “I hope this will be a meaningful occasion to discuss Gyeongnam’s current issues and secure next year’s national budget,” and requested, “Please actively support the People Power Party’s efforts for youth issues, the construction of the Namhae-Yeosu undersea tunnel, the introduction of electric trains between Bujeon and Masan, and the promotion of the Bu-Ul-Gyeong Megacity for sustainable development of Korea.”
Gyeongnam Province also repeatedly requested interest and support for seven major ongoing projects including the promotion of a national balanced development strategy through ultra-wide regional cooperation by zone, mutual cooperation between Yeongnam and Honam regions, and support for national balanced development.

The main projects for which national funding was requested include the “Namhae-Yeosu Undersea Tunnel,” “Northeast Asia Smart Logistics Platform Construction,” “Introduction of Electric Trains between Bujeon and Masan,” “Development and Demonstration of ICT Convergence Manufacturing Operating System,” “Support for Commercialization of Small and Strong Special Zones,” and “Creation of the Gaya Cultural Zone,” totaling 29 projects requesting 283.5 billion KRW in support from the central government.
