Opening of Gwanak-gu Gang Gamchan Daycare Center... Elderly Care Services
Elderly Aged 65 and Over Recognized with Long-Term Care Grades 3-5 Experiencing Daily Life Difficulties Can Use... Various Customized Programs Provided Including Health Management, Cognitive and Regular Support Activities, Leisure Activities, and Shuttle Services
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) opened the Gwanak-gu Gang Gamchan Daycare Center on the 1st to respond to the increasing demand for welfare services in an aging society.
The district started construction last August to establish a public nursing facility in the Daehak-dong area, where senior welfare facilities are relatively scarce, to support the healthy aging and leisure activities of local seniors and provide high-quality elderly welfare services.
The Gwanak-gu Gang Gamchan Daycare Center is located in a newly built senior complex facility on the site of 16 Daehak 12-gil, replacing the old Daehak Senior Citizens' Center. The facility covers a land area of 255㎡, a total floor area of 499㎡, and consists of four above-ground floors. Construction was completed in May.
The total project cost, including land acquisition, amounted to 2.9 billion KRW. The first and second floors of the building are used as the Daehak Senior Citizens' Center, while the third and fourth floors house the Gang Gamchan Daycare Center.
As the first public nursing facility in the area, the Gang Gamchan Daycare Center is a welfare facility where seniors who cannot receive family care due to unavoidable reasons can stay for a set number of hours per day to receive care services.
About ten staff members, including social workers and care workers, reside on-site to provide various customized programs for seniors' daily lives, such as health management, cognitive and emotional support programs, leisure activities, and shuttle services.
The center has a total capacity of 23 people. Seniors aged 65 or older with long-term care grades 3 to 5 can use the facility after consultation. Operating hours are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
