[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, visited the Yeonggwang screening clinic on the 2nd to inspect the COVID-19 response site and encourage the officials.
This field visit was conducted to preemptively block additional infections following the confirmation of one employee at the Yeonggwang Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant on the 1st, and to directly observe the COVID-19 response efforts amid the heatwave.
Governor Kim said, “I appreciate the hard work of the medical staff and public officials who have been working on the front lines of quarantine despite the heat,” and urged, “Please do not let your guard down in responding to COVID-19 and make every effort to prevent community infections.”
He also emphasized to the residents, “As visits to other regions increase during the vacation season, the number of confirmed cases in the province has been recording double digits daily since July, which is a concerning situation,” adding, “It is important to visit a nearby screening clinic and get a free test after traveling to other regions.”
He added, “If you have symptoms such as fever, you should immediately visit a screening clinic for diagnostic testing.”
The province immediately dispatched a rapid response team following the confirmed case of an employee at the Yeonggwang Hanbit Nuclear Power Plant, conducting an in-depth epidemiological investigation by identifying the movements of related confirmed cases and quickly isolating additional contacts at risk of infection.
