Djokovic Loses Tennis Bronze Medal Match... Finishes Olympics with 'No Medal'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] World-renowned tennis star Novak Djokovic (No. 1, Serbia) failed to win a medal in the men's singles tennis event at the Tokyo Olympics.
On the 31st, Djokovic lost 1-2 (4-6, 7-6<8-6>, 3-6) after a 2 hour and 47 minute battle against Pablo Carre?o Busta (No. 11, Spain) in the men's singles bronze medal match held at Ariake Tennis Park in Tokyo, Japan.
After losing 1-2 (6-1, 3-6, 1-6) to Alexander Zverev (No. 5, Germany) in the semifinals the day before, ending his dream of a gold medal, Djokovic challenged for the bronze medal on this day but ultimately returned empty-handed in singles.
Djokovic was also scheduled to compete in the mixed doubles bronze medal match with Nina Stojanovi? but withdrew.
Djokovic won a bronze medal in men's singles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, placed fourth in both the 2012 London Olympics and this tournament, and was eliminated in the first round at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
