Military Approaches 90% Second COVID-19 Vaccination Rate for Service Members Aged 30 and Over
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]The second dose vaccination rate of the COVID-19 vaccine among soldiers aged 30 and above has been reported to be close to 90%.
According to the Ministry of National Defense on the 27th, 5,550 soldiers aged 30 and above received their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine the day before, increasing the cumulative number of vaccinated personnel to 104,861.
This corresponds to about 89.7% compared to approximately 117,000 soldiers aged 30 and above who received the first dose. No new confirmed cases were reported within the military on this day, keeping the cumulative number of confirmed cases unchanged from the previous day at 1,491. Among them, 318 are currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defense stated that all 29 soldiers of the 34th Cheonghae Unit, who tested negative in diagnostic tests after returning on the 20th and are currently quarantined at the naval facility in Jinhae, also tested negative in their recent additional diagnostic tests.

Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Boo Seung-chan said, "We are currently providing psychological treatment and other support based on expert advice," adding, "Once the quarantine ends, leave will be implemented normally considering the unit management guidelines."
