Incheon Namdong-gu, COVID-19 AI Care Call Service... Reducing Workload of Healthcare Personnel
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Namdong-gu, Incheon, will implement the 'COVID-19 AI Care Call Service' utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology for monitoring active COVID-19 surveillance subjects starting from the 26th.
Unlike the existing method where public health center staff make calls directly, the automated AI response system will call active surveillance subjects twice a day (10 AM and 3 PM) to check for abnormalities such as fever and respiratory symptoms, and report the results to the public health center staff.
The city stated that the system enables natural conversations comparable to human levels and has a speech recognition accuracy of over 96%, allowing most recipients to accept the calls without discomfort.
With the introduction of the COVID-19 AI Care Call Service, public health center staff will only need to contact subjects exhibiting fever or other symptoms, which is expected to reduce consultation workload by more than 70% compared to before.
A Namdong-gu official said, "As the COVID-19 disaster situation prolongs, the workload on health personnel is significant," adding, "By implementing the AI Care Call Service, health personnel can focus more on screening clinics, epidemiological investigations, and confirmed case management, enabling a faster and more efficient response to COVID-19."
