Imsil-gun Launches Research Project for Okjeongho Promotion Plan
[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk (Governor Sim Min) announced on the 23rd that it has recently launched the ‘Okjeongho Promotion Plan Research Service’ to establish a promotional strategy in line with recent tourism trends.
Okjeongho is the core content of Imsil tourism, opening the Seomjingang Renaissance era, promoted as a flagship project during the 7th local government administration.
Accordingly, since 2015 during the 6th local government administration until this year, the county has invested 33 billion KRW to actively promote the 1st phase Seomjingang Eco Museum project, including Bungeo Island Eco Garden, Eco Nuri Campus, and Bungeo Island Suspension Bridge.
Last year, a visitor center was built on the 20,000-pyeong site of Bungeo Island, and pine trees, Korean chrysanthemum (Gujeolcho), azaleas, hydrangeas, and other seasonal trees were planted to make it a beautiful island throughout the year.
Also, construction of the 410-meter-long Bungeo Island Suspension Bridge is underway and is expected to be completed early next year.
Starting this year, the 2nd phase Seomjingang Eco Museum project is underway, investing 25 billion KRW over five years until 2025 to build mountain sports experience facilities and waterfront tourism infrastructure.
Access and connecting roads to the Seomjingang Eco Museum and a 25,000-pyeong parking lot site are also being developed.
The county expects that once the suspension bridge, skywalk, and zipline are installed, many tourists nationwide will visit Okjeongho, and is establishing diverse and differentiated promotional plans suitable for this.
Through this service, Okjeongho is regarded as an important resource to lead Imsil-gun’s tourism industry for the next 100 years, and plans to create symbolic promotional materials for Okjeongho that anyone can easily recognize, in line with the comprehensive development of Okjeongho including the opening of Bungeo Island next year.
It is expected to analyze location branding suitable for Okjeongho’s characteristics, discover seasonal attractions and SNS photo spots, and prepare ideas for themes and concepts by assigning unique storytelling elements to each.
Starting next month, the ‘Okjeongho Area Landscape Creation Mid- to Long-Term Plan’ will also be launched to actively respond to discovering new landscape projects for Okjeongho that will create complex functions such as recreation, tourism, ecological exploration, health promotion, and regional economic revitalization.
Governor Sim Min said, “We will prepare and promote promotional plans in various ways through diverse opinions from experts in each field to maximize the promotional effect of tourism resources. We will strengthen promotion so that Okjeongho can establish its reputation as the nation’s top ecological tourism destination and do our best to prepare tourism resources.”
