GS Caltex Delivers Samgyetang to Elderly Living Alone on Overlapping Heat Days
Employees and Yeosu Senior Welfare Center Officials Actively Work to Fill the Gap Caused by the Suspension of Sarangnatumteo Operations
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] GS Caltex operates the free meal service for the elderly in the Yeosu area of Jeonnam called 'Sarang Nanumteo.' Amid prolonged suspension of operations due to concerns over COVID-19 infection, they continue their sharing activities by delivering Samgyetang to local seniors in celebration of Jungbok.
On the 20th, the GS Caltex employee volunteer team, together with the Yeosu Senior Welfare Center and life managers from Chungmu-dong, Seogang-dong, and Gwangnim-dong, carefully prepared nourishing Samgyetang and personally delivered it to about 320 single elderly households residing in Chungmu-dong, Seogang-dong, and Gwangnim-dong.
On that day, the volunteer team not only delivered Samgyetang but also inquired about the seniors' health conditions and checked if there were any inconveniences, playing the role of health guardians for seniors exhausted by the heatwave.
A GS Caltex official stated, "Since the suspension of the 'GS Caltex Sarang Nanumteo' free meal service for single elderly started in March last year, we have been delivering side dish energy kits containing side dishes, kimchi, and instant soup once a week. For about 20 people at serious risk of malnutrition, we separately provide daily lunch boxes to minimize the meal service gap caused by the suspension of the free meal service."
