Korea Customs Service, Export and Import Performance from July 1 to 20
Semiconductors up 33.9%, Cars up 28.4%
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Exports increased by more than 30% up to the 20th of this month, continuing the upward trend that began in November last year.
According to the Korea Customs Service on the 21st, export value from July 1 to 20 was $32.6 billion, up 32.8% ($8.04 billion) compared to the same period last year.
Accordingly, the cumulative annual export value up to the 20th of this month reached $335.8 billion, an increase of 26.7% ($70.74 billion) compared to the same period last year.
The number of working days from July 1 to 20 was 15.5 days, the same as the same period last year. Considering this, the average daily export value was $2.1 billion, up 32.8%.
By item, compared to the same period last year, semiconductors (33.9%), passenger cars (28.4%), petroleum products (69.1%), wireless communication devices (33.8%), and precision instruments (15.1%) increased, while computer peripherals (-7.8%) decreased.
By country, exports increased to China (18.6%), the United States (38.9%), the European Union (EU, 51.7%), Vietnam (18.8%), Japan (30.5%), and the Middle East (51.6%).

Imports from July 1 to 20 amounted to $36.5 billion, up 46.1% ($11.51 billion) compared to the same period last year. Compared to the same period last year, semiconductors (29.9%), crude oil (83.6%), gas (146.7%), petroleum products (123.3%), and passenger cars (176.8%) increased, while wireless communication devices (-10.2%) decreased.
