On the 21st, Shinhan Card announced that it held a business agreement ceremony with Naver Z, the operator of the global metaverse 'Zepeto,' the first in the financial sector, and plans to launch a prepaid card tailored for Generation Z and build a virtual space within Zepeto.
Zepeto, with a global cumulative user base of 200 million, is Asia's number one metaverse platform, receiving overwhelming attention from Generation Z, with 80% of its users being teenagers. Shin Young-jin, President of Shinhan Card, and Kim Dae-wook, CEO of Naver Z, appeared as their avatars in Zepeto, fitting the virtual reality content, to conduct the agreement ceremony.
The two companies plan to create a space within Zepeto to attract Generation Z and activate communication with Generation Z by launching differentiated products in the metaverse, linking their unique infrastructures.
First, Shinhan Card's Zepeto World will be composed in collaboration with Zepeto's internal department, which understands user behavior patterns well, and skilled creators who have made multiple Zepeto Worlds. It will condense data know-how such as Generation Z's metaverse behavior patterns and preferred designs to present a differentiated space tailored to Generation Z.
Additionally, the prepaid card, which can be issued with only identity verification without complicated registration procedures, will offer teen-friendly discount benefits usable within Zepeto. The design will reflect customers' Zepeto avatars, and considering the cash usage patterns of middle and high school students, a cash charging function will be added alongside existing account or point charging methods.
