Hwasun-gun to Operate 'Dongbyeonghachi Program' Until the 6th of Next Month

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 19th that the county's Dream Start will operate the ‘Dongbyeonghachi (冬病夏治)’ program three times by the 6th of next month, timed with the Sambok period, to promote a healthy winter.

Dongbyeonghachi is a representative traditional Korean medicine preventive treatment method that treats winter diseases caused by cold energy in advance during the summer. It helps prevent respiratory diseases such as rhinitis, bronchitis, and asthma after the seasonal change, as well as digestive diseases like loss of appetite, stomachache, and enteritis.

The program involves applying Sambok patches that enhance lung energy to strengthen the respiratory system and drinking Saenggicha, a medicinal beverage brewed with ingredients such as Ophiopogon japonicus, Schisandra chinensis, and ginseng, ten times (once a day).

Hamsoa Oriental Medicine Clinic Co., Ltd. sponsored the Sambok patches and Saenggicha.

The county selected 20 children for the program by continuously monitoring Dream Start infants and toddlers, focusing on those who sweat a lot and those who frequently catch colds in winter.

After checking the children's health condition, the county health center's oriental medicine doctor applies the Sambok patches and clearly explains the precautions for drinking Saenggicha to the children and their guardians.

After completing the three-session program, 100 masks per child, sponsored by ShinAHS Co., Ltd., will be provided to help prevent respiratory diseases.

The county Dream Start provides a total of 47 customized services in areas such as physical health, emotional welfare, and cognitive language for vulnerable children aged 0 to 12, helping them grow into healthy members of society.

A county official said, “We hope that the Dream Start children suffering from respiratory problems will strengthen their immunity through this Dongbyeonghachi program,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various programs for the healthy growth and development of children.”
