KT&G Launches Eco-Friendly Campaign 'Feel Green'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] KT&G announced on the 19th that it will carry out the ‘Pil(Green)’ campaign, which practices eco-friendly activities in daily life, to strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and take the lead in solving environmental issues.
‘Pil(Green)’ means activities that must be carried out to protect the global environment, and it also implies that employees participate and directly feel the changes. It consists of eco-friendly activities that can be easily practiced in everyday workplace life, and will be carried out step-by-step this year, starting with a tumbler use campaign, followed by ‘plogging’ and ‘upcycling’.
First, KT&G has been running the ‘We Need Containers’ campaign since July to reduce the use of disposable cups in the office and encourage the use of reusable containers. Posters featuring employees as models were produced to increase participation, and tumblers engraved with the environmental management vision ‘KT&G GREEN IMPACT’ were provided to employees who needed personal cups. At ‘Spoon Spoon,’ a coffee shop in the KT&G building in Daechi-dong, Seoul, a ‘Tumbler Care Service’ is being operated, offering container cleaning and price discounts when bringing a tumbler.
Next, KT&G plans to conduct a ‘plogging’ campaign in September, where employees pick up litter on the streets while jogging, and by the end of the year, it will implement an ‘upcycling’ program that collects recyclables and transforms them into environmentally valuable products.
