Large-Scale Recruitment Planned for New Graduates... Schedule Under Review to Allow 2022 Graduates to Apply
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoonju Hwang] LG Chem is set to undertake large-scale recruitment in the second half of the year to become the world's largest comprehensive battery materials company. Earlier, LG Chem's Advanced Materials Division hired about 250 employees in the first half of the year, marking the largest single recruitment since its launch in 2019. After hiring experienced professionals, they also plan to announce recruitment for new graduates.
On the 18th, LG Chem announced that the Advanced Materials Division will conduct a triple-digit scale recruitment of experienced professionals to expand its battery materials workforce.
This recruitment focuses on attracting talent with expertise and leadership in battery materials such as cathode materials and separators, and also includes IT materials business areas like OLED.
In the cathode materials sector, positions are open for R&D, purchasing, sales & marketing, production, and equipment technology related to next-generation cathode materials and precursor process development. In the separator and new business development sector, heavy-weight talent will be secured across various fields such as R&D, process technology, and product planning to stabilize new businesses early. The IT materials sector is recruiting experts in automotive and IT polarizing films, OLED and foldable adhesive film development, sales & marketing, and production technology. Additionally, to strengthen ESG-based business, experts in recycling who can dismantle used batteries and extract metals such as nickel, cobalt, and manganese will also be hired.
Applicants can submit their applications by the 26th. After document screening, candidates will undergo aptitude tests followed by first-round interviews and second-round comprehensive interviews. Final successful candidates will join in September, undergo an orientation process, and then be assigned to respective teams.
Through this experienced professional recruitment, LG Chem plans to secure additional highly capable talent to firmly establish its leading position in the rapidly growing battery materials market.
Furthermore, to secure future competitiveness, they plan to conduct new graduate recruitment in the second half of the year.
At the CEO press conference held on the 14th, LG Chem announced plans to invest 6 trillion KRW to become the world’s number one comprehensive battery materials company, broadly nurturing its product portfolio from cathode materials to separators, anode binders, thermal adhesives, and CNTs.
To focus on battery materials as a new growth engine, LG Chem is pursuing various strategies to strengthen business capabilities, including in-house development of next-generation products such as NCMA cathode materials and securing metal raw material competitiveness through external collaborations.
Last month, LG Chem invested about 40 billion KRW in Jiujiang DeFu Technology, a Chinese company manufacturing copper foil, a core component of secondary batteries, and is currently preparing joint ventures with mining companies to ensure stable supply of metals used in cathode materials.
