Hwasun County Citizens' Comprehensive Cultural Center, Eco-Friendly Swimming Pool 'Well Received'
[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] The swimming pool at the Jeonnam Hwasun-gun Citizen Comprehensive Cultural Center is receiving favorable reviews from users.
The county announced on the 16th that it had undergone major renovation work from July to December last year and recently reopened after a long closure due to construction and COVID-19 quarantine measures.
The Hwasun swimming pool, equipped with a 25m, 6-lane adult pool and a 1m, 2-lane auxiliary pool, underwent its first large-scale renovation since opening in July 2011.
The swimming pool basin material was changed to stainless steel, and a "saltwater electrolysis sterilization device" and dehumidification air conditioner were installed, transforming it into an eco-friendly swimming pool.
By replacing inefficient or malfunctioning equipment with eco-friendly, high-efficiency products, water quality was greatly improved, and a safe water quality management system was established to resolve user inconveniences such as eye irritation.
An intelligent integrated management system dedicated to the swimming pool was established, enabling quick normalization when facility issues occur, making maintenance smarter.
From the ticket booth to the shower room, changing room, temperature control room, ceiling, and underground parking lot, the environment has become more pleasant and comfortable.
The county expects the quality and efficiency of survival swimming lessons to improve by raising the depth of the auxiliary pool, where about 2,500 students from 16 elementary schools will take lessons, from 0.75m to 0.9m.
The large-scale renovation was made possible by securing 1.6 billion KRW in project funds (800 million KRW each from national and county budgets) through a successful application to the "2019 Living Sports Facility Expansion Support Project" and an additional 500 million KRW in provincial funds by being selected for the "Jeonnam Province City and County Current Issues Financial Support Proposal Project" last year.
The recently reopened swimming pool limits the number of entrants and only allows free swimming.
The number of entry sessions operates seven times from Tuesday to Saturday and four times on Sunday, with 50 minutes of swimming per session followed by exit for disinfection and preparation for the next group.
A county official said, "With the start of the fourth wave of COVID-19 and the social distancing level raised to level 2, strict quarantine guidelines including capacity limits are unavoidable," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that residents can use the swimming pool in a safe and comfortable environment."
