Kim Tae-ho Announces Presidential Candidacy: "I Will Create a Korea of Coexistence"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 15th, Kim Tae-ho, a member of the People Power Party, declared his candidacy for the presidential election, putting "coexistence" at the forefront.
On the same day, Kim declared his presidential bid remotely while under COVID-19 self-quarantine. He criticized, "How is the Republic of Korea now? It is still divided by factions, still divided by regions, and even trying to split by generation and gender."
Kim said, "In the face of this suffocatingly heavy reality, I, Kim Tae-ho, have pondered deeply on what my role is and what use I might be," adding, "I promise the conclusion of my contemplation to the people."
First, Kim stated, "I will create a free Republic of Korea where all citizens can fully demonstrate their abilities," and "I will radically abolish government interference and regulations, and turn the Korean Peninsula and its adjacent islands into the world's largest economic free zone." He added, "We will no longer repeat the past where the government stifled private sector competitiveness through regulations and permits."
He continued, "I will build a Republic of Korea where experts are respected," saying, "When a non-expert president ignores experts and insists on their own way, we have witnessed over the past four years how ruinous policies like nuclear phase-out, income-led growth, and anti-market real estate regulations have inflicted irreparable suffering on the people." He pledged, "I will start by abandoning stubbornness and becoming humble."
