Starting Next Week, Real-Time Disclosure of Electric Vehicle Fast Charger Malfunctions... Charging Points Awarded for Malfunction Reports
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] Starting from the 19th, real-time information on malfunctions of electric vehicle fast chargers will be publicly available. From next month, points usable for charging will be awarded when reporting malfunction details.
The Ministry of Environment announced on the 15th that from the 19th, the status of malfunctions, repairs, and scheduled actions by charger manufacturers will be disclosed daily through the Ministry’s Low Emission Vehicle Integrated Homepage.
The Ministry plans to link this information with navigation functions such as T-map and Kakao Mobility to allow users to conveniently check the data.
Additionally, information such as malfunction rates and response speeds will be actively utilized in future public fast charger installation bids or subsidy projects.
To encourage charger users to actively participate in the prompt handling of malfunctioning chargers, a "Malfunction Report Points System" will be operated for three months starting from the 2nd of next month. When a public fast charger malfunction is reported through the Korea Automobile Environment Association Help Desk, the first reporter will receive points (1,000 points per case) usable for charging fees on the Low Emission Vehicle Homepage.
Along with this, to commemorate the first anniversary of the Korean New Deal plan announcement, the Ministry of Environment will pilot electric vehicle charging fee benefits. Until the end of this year, up to 100,000 points per electric vehicle will be provided to low-income groups and small business owners, and charging fees for 122 public fast chargers with low usage rates will be discounted (255.7 KRW/kWh).
