New Thyroid Cancer Diagnostic Method Announced
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Professor Park Minho of the Department of Endocrine Surgery at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital received the 'Best Poster Award' at the Seoul International Symposium of Surgical Oncology (SISSO 2021).
According to Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital on the 12th, the symposium was held both online and offline over two days, from the 25th to 26th of last month, at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul, with over 1,000 participants from 40 countries worldwide.
Professor Park attracted attention from the academic community by researching and presenting on the 'Differential Diagnosis of Thyroid Nodule Calcification Using Targeted Near-Infrared Fluorescent Agents.'
This study demonstrated the potential for a new thyroid cancer diagnostic method differentiated from existing imaging techniques by visualizing benign and malignant calcifications in thyroid nodules using near-infrared fluorescent agents for differential diagnosis.

Professor Park also made history by winning the Best Researcher Award twice in the International Surgical Symposium (KOSIS) of the Korean Surgical Society in 2013 and 2016. Additionally, he has published over 100 papers in prestigious international journals such as Nature Medicine, Nature Genetics, and Cancer Research.
