Designated Parking Spaces for Electric Kickboards Established... Revised Road Traffic Act to Take Effect on the 13th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The National Police Agency announced on the 12th that the revised Road Traffic Act, which allows the installation of parking spaces for personal mobility devices (PM) such as electric kickboards, will be enforced starting from the 13th.
With the enforcement of this revised law, safety signs permitting the parking of personal mobility devices and marking lines indicating parking zones will be installed, enabling personal mobility devices to be parked in designated areas.
Until now, there were no specific places designated for parking personal mobility devices, which led to users leaving shared kickboards indiscriminately on the streets after use, becoming a problematic issue. This measure is expected to serve as a solution to that problem.
This measure will also apply equally to bicycles, allowing the installation of bicycle racks and electric bicycle charging facilities.

A police official stated, "This will enhance the convenience of pedestrians using sidewalks while also helping to resolve the issue of unauthorized abandonment of personal mobility devices. As the number of users of bicycles and personal mobility devices is expected to increase, we ask for the public’s interest and cooperation in establishing traffic order and fostering a proper usage culture."
