KT to Support Diverse Films with Gyeonggi Content Agency and CGV
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 8th that it has signed a business agreement with the Gyeonggi Content Agency and CJ CGV to launch the ‘2021 Gyeonggi Indie Cinema CGV·KT Screening Linkage Support’ project starting in July, covering both theaters and IPTV.
This project will hold a public contest targeting domestic independent films whose theatrical screening opportunities have further decreased, supporting their theatrical releases. Afterwards, the films will be categorized in highly exposed sections on KT Olleh TV Choice’s video-on-demand (VOD) service. Various promotional activities will be fully supported, including banners within Olleh TV and trailer placements on movie promotion channels.
KT plans to significantly increase the exposure of these films on Olleh TV and support various promotions to satisfy audiences thirsty for independent and art films. Subscribers who purchase the VOD of films selected for this project will receive a 100% payback in TV coupons, providing an opportunity to watch excellent independent films for free.
This project regularly holds contests for domestic independent feature films with a net production cost under 1 billion KRW. The July contest will select about two films each for release in August and September. There are no restrictions on genre, theme, or subject, including feature films, documentaries, and animations. Filmmakers wishing to participate can apply online through the Gyeonggi Film Commission website by 3 PM on July 14. Detailed information and announcements can be found on the websites of the Gyeonggi Content Agency and the Gyeonggi Film Commission.
