Yeonggwang-gun Holds 'Emergency Countermeasure Meeting' in Preparation for Heavy Rainfall
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) announced that it held an emergency countermeasure meeting the day before due to the forecast of heavy rain over two days on the 5th and 6th.
The countermeasure meeting was chaired by Vice-Governor Kim Jango, with heads of departments attending, and a non-face-to-face video conference was held with 11 towns and townships. They analyzed hourly rainfall and its impact on the regions, and discussed measures to minimize damage by confirming pre-inspection items by relevant departments.
The main inspection items included ▲management of ground subsidence and crack risk areas around construction sites ▲pre-safety inspections of major tourist sites and various facilities such as vinyl greenhouses and livestock barns ▲strengthening surveillance activities for disaster-vulnerable areas such as steep slopes, flood-prone areas, and landslide risk areas ▲inspection of sewage systems, drainage pump stations, and various repair facilities ▲checking emergency contact networks and work team organization.
In particular, to prevent recurrence in areas damaged last year and to prevent casualties among residents, a close cooperation system was established between the county office’s responsible departments and towns and townships to discuss measures for the prior prevention of safety accidents.
The county plans to strengthen resident publicity through disaster village broadcasting and emergency disaster text message sending for proactive disaster safety response, and to reinforce the emergency response system for emergency recovery activities according to weather warnings.
Vice-Governor Kim Jango said, “Prioritizing the protection of residents’ lives, carefully monitor future weather conditions and maintain a close cooperation system among related departments to thoroughly conduct pre-inspections so that no casualties occur due to strong winds and heavy rain.”
