650 Figures Sharing Learning and Wisdom Amid COVID-19 Public Education Crisis... "Continuing to Develop Unique Educational Content Linked with Songpa Teachers"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) held the '2021 Songpa SSEM Person Library Performance Sharing Meeting' on the 30th of last month, attended by about 90 Songpa SSEM Person Library members who have been active in various educational fields within Songpa-gu.
The ‘Songpa SSEM Person Library’ is a place where people become books, a new concept library where outstanding local talents participate as person libraries to share knowledge, experience, and life wisdom.
Currently, 650 local talents, including investment expert John Lee, rhythmic gymnastics national athlete Shin Su-ji, education professor Kim Nu-ri, lifelong learning clubs, and parent education activists, participate as Songpa SSEM Person Libraries.
Through the '2021 Songpa SSEM Person Library Performance Sharing Meeting,' the district shared the achievements of ‘Songpa SSEM (SSEM),’ a key project of the 7th local government administration, and prepared a moment to appreciate the efforts of Songpa SSEM Person Libraries who delivered learning and wisdom despite the COVID-19 crisis.
At the event, time was dedicated to introducing Songpa-gu’s unique education model ‘Songpa SSEM’ core projects: ▲Person Library ▲Future Education Center ▲Instrument Library ▲Education Portal.
Following this, presentations were held to share activity cases of Songpa SSEM Person Libraries active in various educational fields within Songpa-gu.
Last year, amid the unprecedented online school openings due to COVID-19, about 100 Songpa SSEM Person Libraries participated in producing 150 online and offline educational contents, supporting classes for over 13,000 students, creating a synergy effect with local school lessons.
Additionally, 400 Songpa SSEM Person Libraries were dispatched to 56 educational institutions requiring emergency care, achieving results in resolving care gaps and creating jobs despite the COVID-19 crisis.
The district plans to discover and expand person libraries annually and utilize them to promote diverse linked programs, providing various learning opportunities to residents.

Songpa-gu Mayor Park Seong-su gave a presentation titled ‘A New Path of Education’ for about 30 minutes, stating, “Through the connection with Songpa SSEM Person Libraries, about 40,000 children have been able to share experiences and knowledge about life so far,” and added, “We will continue to secure person libraries in various fields so that residents can receive education when needed and desired, and discover and support differentiated educational contents unique to Songpa to ensure more educational benefits are delivered.”
