Elon Musk, Who Declared "I Won't Own a House," Lives in a 50 Million Won Prefabricated Rental Home
[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, who moved his residence to Texas, USA, revealed that he lives in a house worth 50 million won.
On the 2nd (local time), according to the US economic media Insider, Musk disclosed this through his social media service (SNS). He replied to a video introducing the prefabricated housing startup Boxabl, mentioning that he "lives in a $50,000 (56 million won) house."
In response, the electric vehicle specialized media TeslaRati reported, citing sources, that Musk's Texas home is a Boxabl 'Casita' model prefabricated rental house. This model is 34㎡ in size and includes a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. Musk's disclosure of his residence is interpreted as being conscious of public attention regarding his assets and taxes.
Previously, in May last year, when controversy over his wealth increase arose, Musk declared that he would not own a house. At that time, he sold three houses in the Bell Air neighborhood near Los Angeles (LA) for a total of $40.9 million (46.4 billion won). Later, when a local investigative media criticized top wealthy individuals for paying low income taxes, citing IRS data, he put up the last remaining house near San Francisco for sale at $37.5 million (42.6 billion won).
