Krafton Launches 'Battlegrounds Mobile India'... 40 Million Pre-Registrations
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Krafton launched ‘Battlegrounds Mobile India (BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA)’ in India on the 2nd.
Battlegrounds Mobile India is a mobile game based on the 'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' IP (intellectual property).
Even before its release, it received great response from Indian users, surpassing 20 million pre-registrations on Google Play within two weeks of starting pre-registration, and securing over 40 million pre-registrations by the day before launch. Additionally, 20 million users participated in the Early Access that began on the 17th of last month.
Krafton explained that to ensure safe service of Battlegrounds Mobile India, they raised personal information protection and information security regulations to the industry's highest level and strengthened policies to comply with software-related laws.
Kim Chang-han, CEO of Krafton, stated, "We plan to continuously provide various in-game content and offer Indian users a unique battle royale experience."
Meanwhile, Krafton plans to foster the Indian e-sports ecosystem by organizing various game tournaments and leagues. Last month, Krafton anticipated the growth potential of India’s game streaming platform ‘Loco’ and participated in a $9 million (approximately 10.1 billion KRW) seed round investment.
