The 'World Cultural Industry Forum' was held in Daegu to explore the future of the global music and entertainment industry.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] The '2021 2nd World Culture Industry Forum (WCIF)', which envisions the future of the popular music and entertainment industry, was held on the 1st at Hotel Suseong in Daegu.
Hosted jointly by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Daegu City, and Suseong District, and co-organized by the Korea Culture Industry Forum and the Korea International Cultural Exchange Promotion Agency, the event was live-streamed with simultaneous Korean-English interpretation through a YouTube channel.
Under the theme of 'Convergence of Culture and Technology,' participants from five countries including the United States, China, Japan, and India joined both online and offline in an international seminar format.
The event aimed not only to foresee future changes in the global music and entertainment industry but also to strengthen cooperative relationships among content creators, producers, and distributors in response to industry changes following the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the first part, keynote speeches were delivered on the theme 'Changes in the Music Entertainment Industry in the Post-COVID Era' by Lee Soo-man, Chief Producer of SM Entertainment, Jeff Bohan, Chairman of Capitol Music Group (CMG), and Teddy Gee, Hollywood director.
In the second part, the keynote speeches continued on the theme 'New Business Opportunities Created by the Convergence of 4th Industrial Revolution Technologies and Cultural Contents' by Kim Sang-yeop, Head of CJ ENM Content R&D Center, and Hu Wei, President of Chinese AI company Keda Xunfei.
In the third part, a special performance was held under the theme 'The Entertainment World Recreated by the Convergence of Culture and Technology.'
The girl group aespa performed this show at Suseong Artpia, a new form of performance crossing virtual and real worlds, which was also live-streamed on YouTube.
Before the performance, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister's Commendation Ceremony and the WCIF Awards took place. After the performance, Song Seung-hwan, Chairman of PMC Production, shared plans for next year's event.

Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin said, "Following last year, the second World Culture Industry Forum held in Daegu showcased the convergence of the entertainment industry and advanced technology," adding, "We will strive to make Daegu a central city for global cultural industry exchange connecting Asia and the West."
