On the 1st, Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, visited the temporary screening clinic at Yongsan Station to encourage the medical staff. This was his first visit to a COVID-19 prevention site marking the third anniversary of the 7th elected term.
Mayor Seong said, "I visited the temporary screening clinic at Yongsan Station as part of the 'Visiting On-site Mayor's Office' event. Today is a meaningful day as I begin my 12th year in office, combining the 5th, 6th, and 7th elected terms. Together with about 1,300 public officials, I will do my best to help our residents regain their daily lives as soon as possible."
Considering the COVID-19 situation, the district will minimize inauguration events this year. On the morning of the 5th, Mayor Seong and some senior officials will visit the Uiyeolsa Shrine in Hyochang Park to pay respects to the eight patriotic martyrs.
On the same day, in the morning, the mayor and department heads will plant a commemorative tree at the Comprehensive Administrative Town plaza, and in the afternoon, they will tour the vaccination center site.

Mayor Seong is the first four-term mayor of Yongsan-gu. Born in 1955 in Hwangjeon-myeon, Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, he moved to Seoul in 1979 and has lived in Yongsan for over 40 years. He was elected as the first Yongsan-gu council member in 1991 and became the youngest mayor of Seoul in 1998 during the 2nd elected term of Yongsan-gu. Since then, he has maintained the trust of residents through the 5th, 6th, and 7th elected terms.
