Electronic Donation Receipts Are Automatically Reflected in Year-End Tax Settlement Documents
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] With the electronic donation receipt system fully implemented after a three-month pilot operation, it will now be automatically reflected in year-end tax settlement data.
The National Tax Service announced on the 1st that the electronic donation receipt system has been officially launched. The electronic donation receipt system allows taxpayers to easily issue and check donation receipts electronically through the Home Tax service.
Previously, donors had to receive donation receipts in paper form from donation organizations and submit them during year-end tax settlement or income (corporate) tax filing. Although donation organizations reported donation details to the National Tax Service from year-end to early year, and these were partially reflected in simplified year-end tax settlement data, the donation receipts themselves were not issued electronically. Additionally, donation organizations faced the inconvenience of separately submitting statutory forms such as issuance details by donor.
With the implementation of the electronic donation receipt system, when donation organizations issue electronic donation receipts, the donation details are automatically reflected in the donor’s simplified year-end tax settlement data, and donors can immediately use them as proof for income (corporate) tax filings.
Accordingly, donors can receive deductions without submitting separate receipts during year-end tax settlement. Donation organizations are exempt from the obligation to store and submit statutory forms. Except for bulk issuance, issuance and inquiry functions are also available via mobile.
To prevent personal information exposure during the issuance of electronic donation receipts, key personal details such as resident registration numbers are masked. Furthermore, if donors agree to the collection of personal information through Home Tax and register their mobile phone numbers, donation organizations can issue donation receipts using the mobile phone number instead of the resident registration number.

The National Tax Service expects that the implementation of the electronic donation receipt system will not only enhance convenience for donation organizations and donors but also prevent illegal issuance of receipts by organizations without legal issuance authority, thereby making the donation culture more transparent and active.
