Coastal Tourism Revitalization: Hampyeong Jupo District Hanok Village Gains Popularity
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County is implementing a safe and secure "healing stay-type tourism" policy where tourists can stay year-round. In this context, the Jupo District Hanok Village, adjacent to Dolmeori Beach, Hampyeong's representative beach, is gaining attention.
Dolmeori Beach, where the tranquil atmosphere of traditional Korean houses (hanok) blends with well-preserved mudflats and pine forests, offers not only sights such as the stunning Hampyeong Bay sunset but also a variety of foods at numerous restaurants and cafes along the coastal road, attracting continuous visits from tourists.
Additionally, with excellent accessibility through connections to four national highways, the Seohaean Expressway, and the Gwangju-Muan Expressway, it is regarded as an ideal place for nearby city residents to enjoy the leisure of nature close to home.
Currently, among a total of 50 hanok buildings, 31 operate as hanok guesthouses in Jupo Hanok Village. Especially on weekends, it is difficult to find vacant rooms due to tourists visiting to experience hanok stays, supporting Hampyeong County's promotion of "stay-type tourism" and the revitalization of coastal tourism.
Moreover, with the recent trend favoring camping and car camping, the synergy created by linking Dolmeori Beach Auto Camping Site, caravans, and the Jupo Multipurpose Center is expected to attract more tourists and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy.
