Jeonnam Fire Department's '119 Life Safety Patrol' Plays Key Role in Resolving Daily Life Inconveniences
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) is effectively fulfilling its role through the activities of the ‘119 Life Safety Patrol,’ which targets vulnerable groups such as elderly people living alone who are susceptible to disasters and accidents.
According to Jeonnam Fire on the 27th, the 119 Life Safety Patrol visits households that are relatively vulnerable to disasters, such as elderly people living alone, to identify and eliminate safety hazards in advance, provide daily medical services, and resolve daily inconveniences.
The day before, the 119 Life Safety Patrol joined hands with the 119 Seomnahoe (President Lee Jongryang), a volunteer firefighter organization, to conduct extensive activities in Yongban Village, Busan-myeon, Jangheung-gun.
Activities included residential fire safety inspections, health checks for the elderly, removal of hazardous facilities around homes, as well as replacement of old insect screens and blanket washing by the 119 Seomnahoe.
The replacement of insect screens for the summer season, washing of winter blankets, and maintenance of collapse-risk facilities and drainage channels in preparation for the rainy season received great appreciation from residents.
Chief Ma Jaeyoon of the Fire Headquarters stated, “The newly initiated 119 Life Safety Patrol will represent a new image of firefighting dedicated to protecting public safety,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure the safety of residents through continuous activities in cooperation with the 119 Seomnahoe and volunteer firefighting teams.”
