SK Telecom Commercializes 'Nugu Care Call' to Assist Vaccination... Free Provision to Local Governments
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] SK Telecom announced on the 27th that its 'NUGU Vaccine Care Call,' which assists with COVID-19 vaccination, will begin service on the 28th starting in Asan City, Chungcheongnam-do, and will expand to Chungcheongnam-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Gwangju Metropolitan City.
The NUGU Vaccine Call is a service where SK Telecom's artificial intelligence (AI) 'NUGU' calls COVID-19 vaccination recipients to provide advance notice of their vaccination schedule and monitor immune responses after vaccination. When the recipient answers the call, NUGU guides them through pre- and post-vaccination procedures with phrases such as, "Your vaccination appointment is scheduled for O month OO day at O o'clock in the morning at OO Public Health Center. Will you be able to come on that day?" and "Do you currently have any pain at the site where you received the injection, OOO?"
In April, SK Telecom signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency to develop and establish the 'NUGU Vaccine Care Call.' In cooperation with the agency, they developed the vaccination guidance and monitoring scenarios for the service and built infrastructure capable of calling 10.8 million recipients monthly. SK Telecom is providing the 'NUGU Vaccine Care Call' free of charge to local governments.
