First Local Infection of 'Delta Variant' Reported in Taiwan
[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] On the 26th (local time), major foreign media reported that cases of COVID-19 Delta variant infection were first reported in the Taiwan community.
According to the reports, Taiwan health authorities announced that six confirmed cases of the Delta variant were found in the southern Pingtung region on the same day. Among them, two are presumed to have brought the virus from Peru this month. Additionally, one of these cases was classified as community transmission rather than family transmission.
Previously, five cases of the Delta variant had been reported in Taiwan, but all were confirmed to be imported from overseas.
