Bereaved Family of Female Sergeant Files Additional Complaints Against 4 Officers of the 15th Squadron for "Abuse of Authority and Harsh Treatment"
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] The bereaved family of Air Force Staff Sergeant Lee, who made an extreme choice after reporting sexual harassment, filed additional complaints on the 25th against four officers of the 15th Special Mission Flight Group suspected of secondary harm, including spreading personal information.
Kim Jeong-hwan, the family's lawyer, stated in a text notice sent to reporters before submitting the complaint to the Ministry of National Defense Prosecutor's Office in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 25th, "At the strong request of the bereaved family, complaints are being filed against the 15th Group Battalion Commander, Operations Control Office Chief, Company Commander, and Radar Maintenance Team Leader for abuse of authority and harsh treatment."
These officers are from the 15th Flight Group to which Staff Sergeant Lee was transferred on the 18th of last month after requesting reassignment following the sexual harassment incident. Lawyer Kim claimed, "During meetings, they openly mentioned Staff Sergeant Lee's victimization and appear to have conspired from the beginning to send her back to her original unit."
The Military Prosecutor's Investigation Review Committee decided at its third meeting on the 22nd to determine whether to prosecute two officers of the 15th Flight Group, who are under investigation for defamation, after further investigation.
