The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 25th that out of about 820,000 households that applied for temporary livelihood support, approximately 640,000 households that completed income and property investigations and verification of overlap with other programs will receive the temporary livelihood support payments.
The temporary livelihood support program is a one-time payment of 500,000 KRW or 200,000 KRW per household to low-income households with less than 75% of the median income who have experienced a crisis due to income reduction but have not received other COVID-19 damage support, aiming to address blind spots in government support for COVID-19 response. The income criteria are monthly incomes of 2.99 million KRW for a three-person household and 3.66 million KRW for a four-person household. The property criteria are 600 million KRW or less in metropolitan areas, 350 million KRW or less in small and medium-sized cities, and 300 million KRW or less in rural areas.
Among the total 820,000 applications, about 130,000 were disqualified due to income and property criteria, and about 30,000 were excluded due to overlap with other programs. Approximately 560,000 households will receive the 500,000 KRW support payment today. However, among the excluded households, about 80,000 households that received a 300,000 KRW temporary management support voucher for small-scale farms, fisheries, and forestry will receive the remaining 200,000 KRW on the 28th.
Households disqualified due to overlap with other programs may receive support payments next month if they file objections and are subsequently approved as eligible.
