Jung-gu, Non-Face-to-Face CPR Training for Childcare Staff
Free CPR Safety Kits Provided to 65 Childcare Centers...Non-Face-to-Face Safety Training for Childcare Staff via ZOOM on the 31st of Last Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jung-gu (District Mayor Seo Yang-ho) is conducting non-face-to-face training on infant and toddler safety accident prevention and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) education for childcare staff in the area to create a safe childcare environment.
Until now, the Jung-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Center and Jungbu Fire Station have cooperated to conduct face-to-face practical training on immediate and efficient emergency treatment methods applicable in emergency situations for childcare staff affiliated with daycare centers.
Due to the normalization of non-face-to-face education amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, to overcome the limitations of education such as lack of practice and to enhance delivery, CPR safety kits have been provided free of charge to 65 daycare centers in the district.
The CPR safety kit consists of an automated external defibrillator (AED) model box, a CPR model tube, AED pad stickers, and a manual. The tube in the human model produces sound when pressed accurately on the correct area, which is a feature that enhances educational effectiveness. It is a safety education product that allows repetitive experiential training to respond to dangerous situations, moving beyond audiovisual education.
On the 31st of last month, a non-face-to-face (ZOOM) training attended by about 40 childcare staff was conducted based on the pre-delivered CPR safety kits and practice materials.
First, types of infant and toddler safety accidents and response methods, as well as the Heimlich maneuver (airway obstruction treatment) for infants, toddlers, and adults, were introduced to enable responses to emergency situations by target group. In addition, CPR practice using the kit was conducted.
After the training, childcare staff left positive feedback on the survey, such as "The firefighter instructor communicated continuously with participants and repeatedly guided us during practice, which was sufficient to raise awareness of safety," and "The free CPR safety kit provided played a significant role in effective education."
Going forward, the district will continue to conduct non-face-to-face safety education for childcare staff and plans to hold face-to-face education when on-site training becomes possible, such as after herd immunity is formed following completion of vaccinations.
