The selected Geumdang area comprehensive fishing village development project achieved the great success of being finally selected in the contest by meticulously planning the project in cooperation with residents under the theme of "Geumdang Coral Island Village Embracing the Geumdang Eight Scenic Views, Shining Geumdang Area," discovering hidden resources in the village.
From next year until 2025, a total project cost of 7.4 billion KRW will be invested over four years to promote basic living infrastructure projects, income increase projects, and resident capacity-building projects.
Once the project is implemented, it is expected to have a significant ripple effect on nearby villages such as Samsan-ri, Yukdong-ri, and Bongdong-ri, centered on Sinheung-ri, Geumdang-myeon.
The detailed project contents include basic living infrastructure projects such as the Geumbit Geumdang Cultural Center, eco-friendly communal energy supply facilities for island villages, marine debris treatment facilities, communal fishing gear storage, and installation of coastal drainage facilities for flood prevention.
As an income increase project, the "Geumbit Geumdang Coral Cafe," which will be a unique cafe and seafood product sales space utilizing soft coral, will be established to contribute to increasing residents' income, providing a communication space for residents and a resting space for tourists.
Additionally, the Geumbit Geumdang Fisheries Win-Win Center will be established and utilized as a fisheries hub facility where residents can generate income through joint work.
