KOICA Signs MOU with Vietnam for COVID-19 Vaccine Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) announced on the 23rd that it has signed a comprehensive support Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology under the Ministry of Health of Vietnam to assist with COVID-19 vaccination.
This MOU signing was promoted as part of the government's 'Development Cooperation Initiative for a Safe World Together' and as a solidarity effort to respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
KOICA will support the establishment of a vaccination response system with a budget of 2.05 million USD and will promote the strengthening of healthcare personnel capabilities and improvement of public health awareness.
More than 30 million vaccination syringes and over 33 medical waste collection containers will be procured domestically and delivered, and a webinar will be held to share vaccination know-how with medical staff and public officials responding to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the signing ceremony was attended by Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong, Ambassador Park No-wan to Vietnam, KOICA Office Chief Cho Han-duk, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, and Director Dang Duc An of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, among others.
