Urgent Call for Active Response to Expedite Sinjeong Vehicle Depot Relocation and Mokdong Apartment Reconstruction... Expansion of National Assembly Boulevard Upper Park to Anyangcheon, Resolution of Park-Road Level Differences, and Zoning Adjustments for Revitalizing Surrounding Areas
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Su-young, Mayor of Yangcheon District, held a meeting with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon to expedite the resolution of residents' pending issues.
On the morning of the 23rd, Mayor Kim met with Mayor Oh at Seoul City Hall and officially requested Seoul City's active promotion of projects reflecting residents' demands, including the relocation of Sinjeong Vehicle Depot, the reconstruction of Mokdong Apartments, and the undergrounding and park development of Gukhoe-daero.
Mayor Kim stated, “More proactive measures are needed for the relocation of Sinjeong Vehicle Depot and the reconstruction of Mokdong Apartments to improve residents' living environments,” urging the swift decision on the district unit plan for the Mokdong District housing development project and the active exploration of alternatives through the ongoing preliminary feasibility study related to the Sinjeong Vehicle Depot relocation.
He added, “Since Gukhoe-daero, which has been an automobile-only road for over 50 years, is being undergrounded and transformed into a large-scale linear park eight times the size of Seoul Plaza on the surface, residents have high expectations,” and requested, “Please actively consider residents' demands such as extending the pedestrian path to Anyangcheon to increase park utilization, resolving level differences between the park and the road, and adjusting zoning for revitalization of surrounding areas.”
