[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 23rd that it will recruit 1,400 "Rainbow Care Workers" to work at LH rental housing to create jobs for rental housing residents and improve rental complex management services.
"Rainbow Care Workers" are senior employees aged 60 or older (born before June 16, 1961) who provide various life services such as care for vulnerable groups, support for activities of persons with disabilities, and housing management assistance at LH rental housing. The recruitment target is LH rental housing residents aged 60 or older who are capable of working. If the number of applicants from residents in each region (workable area) is insufficient, the general public may also apply.
The working period is four months, from August 16 to December 15, with a schedule of 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. Duties include care services for vulnerable groups, complex environment maintenance, rental management assistance, and support for the operation of community facilities. The salary is about 910,000 KRW per month, and the workplaces are LH rental apartments and management offices of purchased rental housing.
Since starting the recruitment of care workers in 2010, LH has hired a total of 18,000 people over 10 rounds until last year, contributing to job creation for the elderly. This year, LH plans to recruit 1,300 people in 722 LH rental apartment complexes nationwide and 100 people in 18 regions of purchased rental housing.
Rental housing residents are given first priority, and if the recruitment quota is not met, the general public is hired as the second priority. △Those who worked as care workers last year △Those currently participating in other senior job or social activity support projects △Current and former LH employees and their spouses and direct relatives are not eligible to apply. To ensure fairness and professionalism in recruitment, document submission, screening, and selection of successful candidates are handled by the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute, a public institution under the Ministry of Health and Welfare responsible for senior jobs.
Application method: Both first and second priority applicants must visit related institutions of the Senior Human Resources Development Institute, such as the Korean Senior Citizens Association or Senior Clubs, in person to submit their application forms during the three days from July 7 to July 9. The screening is conducted only through document review, and the selection criteria include △household composition (single household, couple household, etc.) △health condition △possession of certificates △enthusiasm for participation. In case of a tie, employment protection candidates or persons with disabilities will be given priority.
The successful candidates will be announced on July 23 on the LH and Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute websites. Detailed information related to recruitment can be found in the announcement posted on the LH and Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute websites. Inquiries can also be made via the LH call center (1600-1004) and the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute call center (1833-4115, 4116).
An LH official said, "We hope this recruitment will help create jobs for rental complex residents who are struggling to find employment amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and deteriorating employment conditions," adding, "We will continue to take the lead in providing jobs for seniors and do our best to offer various services to residents."
