[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI, which started slightly higher, has risen above the 3260 level. This appears to be due to sustained buying by foreigners and institutions switching from net selling to net buying. The KOSDAQ is also maintaining the 'Thousand-SDAC' level.
As of 2:04 PM on the 22nd, the KOSPI recorded 3263.96, up 0.71% from the previous day. After opening slightly higher at 3245.79, the gains gradually widened.
Buying by foreigners and institutions seems to have driven the index. Foreigners, who switched to net buying after three trading days, purchased a net 264.2 billion KRW. Institutions, which showed net selling in the morning, increased their net buying intensity in the afternoon. Individuals sold a net 317.6 billion KRW.
Almost all sectors showed gains. Several sectors rose more than 2%, including Textiles & Apparel (2.83%), Transportation Equipment (2.51%), and Steel & Metals (2.30%). Only Pharmaceuticals (-1.00%) declined.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ rose 0.16% from the previous day to 1012.69. It also started slightly higher at 1012.01, briefly turned downward but maintained the 1000 level. It then reversed to an upward trend, rising to the 1010 level.
In the KOSDAQ market, individuals continued their buying spree alone. They purchased a net 229.8 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions sold net 195.4 billion KRW and 26.4 billion KRW, respectively.
