Gangnam-gu, Why Give a 10,000 Won Gift Certificate for Walking 10,000 Steps?
Twice by September, first 500 applicants each time... Part of Gangnam Innovation Education District's 'Gangsimjang Project'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) is operating the program "Fitness UP, Strong Mind: Youth, Walking 10,000 Steps Alone in Our Neighborhood," which rewards a 10,000 KRW mobile gift certificate for walking 10,000 steps a day until September.
The district planned this program to address the physical decline and psychological depression of youth whose outings have been restricted due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The 10,000-step walking event is held twice for elementary, middle, and high school students residing in Gangnam-gu or peers of the same age.
The first round, held until July 2, is limited to the first 300 applicants. The second round, recruiting 200 participants, will take place from August 28 to September 10.
Applications can be submitted by checking the district office website, accessing the application form link, filling it out, and submitting it. Participants who walk 10,000 steps during the event period and submit simple impressions along with proof verifying the number of steps and dates will receive a mobile gift certificate worth 10,000 KRW after verification by the district office.
