Seodaemun-gu Operates Webtoon Class for Adults with Developmental Disabilities, 'Positive' Response
Continuing from Q2 to Q3 this year, lifelong learning centers and Convergence Talent Education Centers will hold programs... A webtoon class for middle and high school students with developmental disabilities will also be available for two weeks starting August 2
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) operated a webtoon class for adults with developmental disabilities at the ‘Design Drawing’ room of Seodaemun-gu Lifelong Learning Center and Convergence Talent Education Center (49 Yeonhui-ro 36-gil) from April to June this year, over a 10-week course.
For this education, held once a week for 1 to 2 hours, Seodaemun Disabled Welfare Center, Seodaemun Lifelong Education Center for People with Developmental Disabilities, and the Seoul Parents Federation for the Disabled Seodaemun Branch collaborated, with a total of 36 participants experiencing digital drawing on computers.
Lee Tae-beom (22), who participated in the class, said, “It was good to express thoughts in various colors and shapes and to challenge something I had never done before.”
Nam Ki-young, the instructor of the disabled webtoon class, said, “At first, some had difficulty even drawing lines, but I felt rewarded seeing their progress as they gradually drew pictures.”
The district plans to officially operate this course in the third quarter, from July to September, following this pilot operation.
Additionally, to coincide with the summer vacation, from August 2, a webtoon class for middle and high school students with developmental disabilities will be held for 2 weeks, 3 times a week, 2 hours each session.
