[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Qatar, the host country of the 2022 World Cup, announced that only people who have completed vaccination will be allowed to watch the matches in the stadium.
Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar, said this during a meeting with newspaper editors, according to AP News and Qatar's state-run QNA news agency on the 20th (local time).
The Qatar World Cup, the first to be held in the Middle East, will open on November 21 next year. Prime Minister Al Thani said, "By the time the World Cup is held, most countries' citizens will have been vaccinated, but there may be some countries that have not."
Qatar has secured 1 million vaccine doses for travelers visiting to watch the World Cup. Al Thani said, "We are currently negotiating with pharmaceutical companies," adding, "This is to protect Qatari citizens and residents."
