LH Delivers 'Longevity and Health Support Items' to Elderly Living Alone in Purchased Rental Housing
Donation of 30 Million KRW and 500 Summer Bedding Sets to the Elderly Living Alone Comprehensive Support Center
On the 9th, 80 Caregivers for Elderly Living Alone in Public Rental Housing Hired to Provide Various Life Services
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 21st that it has delivered ‘Health and Longevity Support Supplies’ to wish for the summer health of elderly people living alone in LH rental housing nationwide.
The ‘Health and Longevity Support Supplies’ were prepared as summer bedding sets to help elderly people living alone, who spend a lot of time at home, get through the hot summer comfortably. The support supplies are scheduled to be delivered in July to 300 elderly people living alone in LH rental housing nationwide and 200 vulnerable elderly managed by the Comprehensive Support Center for Elderly Living Alone.
First, LH donated 30 million KRW to the Comprehensive Support Center for Elderly Living Alone at the Seoul Regional Headquarters on the same day and visited rental housing located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to personally deliver the support supplies to elderly people living alone.
There are about 15,000 single-person households aged 65 or older living in LH rental housing. Since 2018, LH has been operating the ‘Elderly Living Alone Caregiver’ system to prevent solitary deaths and strengthen housing services for them. The ‘Elderly Living Alone Caregiver’ provides services such as △ companionship service △ support for rent and management fee payments △ guidance on various welfare programs △ reception of living complaints. Starting with hiring 30 caregivers in 2018, LH has been recruiting caregivers every year, and on the 9th of this month, 80 were recruited, bringing the total number of caregivers to 244 so far.
